About the CJC

Why Voices in Mosaic?

Voices in Mosaic was created to help educate young Canadians on the role of judges, courts, the justice system, and the rule of law. By inviting youth to share their perspectives in a creative way, the Council hopes to foster greater understanding of the justice system and the rule of law while creating a space for Canadian youth to be seen and heard.

About the Canadian Judicial Council

The Council was created in 1971 by Parliament to maintain and improve the quality of judicial services in Canada's superior courts. It has the power and duty to investigate complaints into the conduct of federally appointed judges.

The Council is also responsible for the continuing education of judges, as well as for developing other tools and programs to maintain public confidence in the judicial system.

The Council has 44 members. It is chaired by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Canada, the Right Honourable Richard Wagner. The Chief Justices and Associate Chief Justices of the Canadian superior courts represent the Council.
